A POLICE probe is continuing into the mystery death of well known local woman, Wendy Cleal (46).
An inquest into the death has already been opened and adjourned, with police officers revealing that they are continuing their investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death.
Miss Cleal was an extremely well known and popular figure in Monmouth and district and worked as a massage therapist at Bridges Community Centre in Monmouth.
At the inquest, Coroner, Mr David Bowen, was told a police officer had discovered Miss Cleal's body in a fire damaged upstairs room.
The police were called to Miss Cleal's Catbrook home by worried friends. It is believed the small fire, which had extinguished itself, had broken out the night before.
The inquest was told a post mortem examination had been performed at the Royal Gwent Hospital, but it had not determined the cause of death and therefore further tests were being carried out.
However, the Coroner was told, the carbon monoxide levels in her blood were two times higher than that needed to cause death.
The inquest was adjourned until police enquiries have been completed.
