SIR,

Monmouth Comprehensive Friends Association (MCFA), a charitable body, brings together parents, school staff and friends to create a vibrant community at the centre of school life.

Part of our aim is to raise funds for the school – we have recently bought a new PA system, but fundraising is only part of the story.

We know the transition from primary to secondary school is huge for both children and parents.

We provide a space to participate in school life while recognising the children's new independence.

Together we have the skills to help make our school even better than it is already.

We meet monthly during term time in the school on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

All parents and carers are welcome to come to our friendly meetings; you are automatically a member when your child attends the school.

There is an elected body of officers consisting of parents and school staff. We also keep in touch with parents by email.

We need parents for all kinds of things, from selling on stalls and helping out at school events, to coming up with bright ideas and forging links with our wider community.

Last year we held a curry and quiz night, a bingo evening and a bands night for our musical youth.

We have plans for a variety of social and fundraising events this year, including a promise auction and a zumbathon.

Why not come along and get involved?
