SIR,

It was with disbelief that I read the few lines in last week's Beacon stating that planning permission had been granted for the redevelopment of Dixton Clinic into residential accommodation.

This would be fine except for the fact that all transport would be via the narrow Burgage.

I had been told this change of use would never happen as long as The Burgage was the access road.

What has happened for this change of heart?

The risk to children walking to and from Monmouth Comprehensive School is still the same, the traffic is still as bad, and health and emergency vehicles still need to reverse to gain entry.

The redevelopment just cannot go ahead in this form.
