SIR,

When Nick Clegg invites us all to tell him which laws we would like to see scrapped, does he mean all the laws or just the 25 per cent of laws that are not passed in Brussels?

As a committed European Federalist, he must know that while we remain part of the European Union, there is nothing we can do about the flood of regulations that pour out of Brussels every single day – some 120,000 to date.

The least Mr Clegg could do is to make it clear that the British public can only concentrate on those laws which our government can actually do something about.

If the deputy Prime Minister does not make this distinction then many people will just be wasting their time.
