SIR,
As a young girl I attended Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls and used to pass by the Shire Hall every day.
In either end arch were two cannons, which were always a great source of amazement for me.
It dawned on me recently that I do not know whereabouts these cannons are now kept.
I suspect that they were possibly taken away and melted as munitions during the Second World War.
If anyone has any details regarding the current whereabouts of the cannons I would greatly appreciate it if you would let me know.
Miss HE Richards
(Trellech)
