SIR,

Having received a lovely pile of Beacons from my sister-in-law (we like to keep up with the news from our old home town) I would like to say we are so pleased that Monmouth will become the gateway to Wales for the Olympic Torch.

We will make every effort to be there.

We all agree with Cllr Brian Hood; it's a real honour that Monmouth will be the first place in Wales the torch will visit.

The eyes of the world will be on Monmouthshire  that day, so please let the world know you are proud to be in Wales and fly the Welsh flag on the Shire Hall.
