Monmouth Rugby Club saw the highlight of many young rugby players' summer last week as Welsh international Shane Williams came to town.

The wing, Wales' all-time leading try scorer, chatted to the youngsters, giving them hints and tips, and answering questions last Friday (26th August) on Chippenham Fields.

He told the Beacon the 'Shane Williams Academy' held in Monmouth last year had been very successful.

"I'm glad to be back," he said.

"Monmouth was one of the biggest we did last year. There are lots of talented kids here who really want to play rugby so it's great."

Talking to the young players Williams, who is set to fly out to the World Cup with Wales, was asked who he thought would win the tournament in New Zealand.

"If we don't win it, you've got to look at New Zealand, although Australia and South Africa are tough teams," he said.
