A young petanque player from Monmouth has represented Wales for the first time.
Rebecca Minshull, a student at Monmouth Comprehensive School, played for the Welsh Under 18 team against England at the Pen-y-Lan Club in Cardiff.
Although her team lost, Rebecca played well and should be selected again for future games.
Rebecca has only been playing petanque at the Monmouth club for four months so it is a remarkable achievement to have been selected for the national team.
The club is keen for other juniors to join and take their chance at playing for the international team.
Coaching is currently provided on Wednesday evenings between 6.30pm and 8.30pm at the Rockfield Community Centre Petanque Terrain.
