With the Wyedean out of the way, Martyn Walby will now strip and rebuild his Escort RS into Historic spec in readiness for an attempt at The Roger Albert Clark Rally in December.

The four-day event takes in 200 stage miles and relives the halycon days of the Lombard RAC Rallies of the 70s.

"I really wanted to do the Wyedean with Jack before stripping the Escort," said Martyn.

"We did 10 events last year and hardly laid a spanner on it, so it's time for a rebuild.

"I did look at doing the Wonago/ Dunlop Historic Gravel Cup, but the RAC has really captured people's imagination and attracts a huge number of spectators and media attension, and it is unique.

"I used to watch the old RAC rallies and dreamed one day that I would love to do it, but it never happened back then."
