Sir,

Given the local crime wave reported in the Beacon in the last two issues, it was good to see in the Beacon that Derek Rowe, the UKIP parliamentary candidate, promises to fight to keep the police station in Monmouth open and the UKIP Chairman getting a positive response from the police authorities this week.

Looking now at international issues that impact on us all, Cameron betrayed the UK disgracefully by breaking his promise of a referendum on the EU Lisbon Treaty.

This and the local police station issue will certainly lead to UKIP attracting many disgruntled Tory supporters in Monmouth and nationally, particularly as UKIP is now the only home of true Tory values.

If only David Davies MP and his leader David Cameron concentrated on policy rather than marketing stunts.

I remember Cameron's green credentials con of cycling to work but followed by a petrol guzzling limo carrying just his briefcase!

Importantly, where is our Tory MP on local issues? To my surprise Hamish Sandison, the local Labour Party Prospective Parliamentary candidate, seems to be doing a better job than our Tory MP, fighting the loss of Tesco jobs in Chepstow, fighting the Tory Monmouthshire Council over the closure of an excellent college and putting pressure on a key Minister to keep the Job Centre open in Monmouth.

Importantly, let's see what our very promising UKIP candidate and local UKIP party has to offer the many disillusioned local Tories who want to distance themselves from EU madness and bureaucracy and Tory stunts.
