SIR, The serious business of electioneering has begun. Each party will be trying to persuade voters of their ideology. I believe this general election in May will be one of the most important for our country. Democratic political decisions is the basis of society and should put our people first and foremost. Personally I am worried at the instability of not only Europe, but of the world. I am at an age where I check my pulse in the morning, to see if I am ticking, but hopefully our younger generation are aware of what is happening, they deserve a fair legacy. Future plans and policies deserve careful thought. My hopes for inequality to be vanquished in health, education, housing, social injustice and all the basic fairness and necessities of life evolving are too slow – greed allowed to run rampant. The dismal examples set by those that should know better are disgraceful, at best disappointing. Let's hope the nine million women voters, who did not vote at the last general election, will use their power and give themselves time to consider policies promised. That brave new world would be welcomed by us all. S.G.Gilbert (Monmouth)
