VOLUNTEERS determined to clear Monmouthshire’s roads of sandwich wrappers and drinks gave up their time for a good cause recently.

The small band of volunteers turned out to clear the Trellech to Monmouth Road verges of vehicle ejected sandwich wrappers, drinks cans, coffee cups, cigarette cartons, glass bottles and endless confectionary wrappers.

Many of these items are regularly picked up by the volunteers and lay in the same areas, indicating those who are actually doing the littering are regularly using this route and stopping in the various lay-by areas to discard their rubbish.

Residents can keep an eye out when they are passing these spots and, if they see littering taking place, help by taking the registration of the vehicle concerned and reporting it directly to Monmouth Council Environmental Services.

Thank you to the volunteers who turned out recently to clear up the detritus of those who have no care for their environment around them.

The next litter pick will take place on Sunday 29th October at 9.30am and meet at the Peckett Stone car park. All equipment is provided. For further details contact Thomas-Ward Jackson via 01873 736037.
