Volunteers rolled their sleeves up and gave their local village hall a welcome autumn tidy-up as work continues to improve the building and its facilities.
Saturday’s volunteer day at Little Mill Village Hall saw overgrowth cut back, plants pruned and weeds removed from the grounds. Inside the hall, repairs were also carried out to the seating.
Village residents and Llanbadoc Community Cllrs joined trustees to tackle the jobs and help keep the hall welcoming and well maintained.
The volunteer day follows the recent repainting of the hall’s exterior and lighting upgrades ahead of the darker winter months.
Hall chairman, County Councillor Tony Kear, said: “A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy on Saturday. Their efforts have made a real difference, both to the grounds and inside the hall.
“Little Mill Village Hall is an important community facility, and we want it to remain a welcoming place that local people can enjoy and be proud of. Alongside the recent exterior decoration and improved lighting, practical work like this helps us continue to care for the hall and improve its facilities.
“We would love to hear from anyone who would like to get involved, help develop activities or encourage more people to use the hall. Every contribution, whether time, skills or ideas, can make a difference.”

The hall’s volunteer spirit dates back to 1933, when village policeman PC W J Taylor launched a project to build a community hall during the Depression. More than 30 unemployed men contributed their labour, with architect C Tedman Jones overseeing the work without charge.
Opening in 1935, the hall stands as a lasting testament to community effort and local determination.
