With her father Barry making the quarter finals and her mother Pam just being pipped, Vicky Smith had a family tradition to uphold when she recently took part in the popular Channel 4 programme Countdown.
Unfortunately, Vicky came up against a tough competitor who had won through to his seventh game and whose lowest score was 104.
And although she did well, scoring 64 against him, it was not enough to take her through to the next round.
However, Vicky's performance was good enough to allow her to apply to take part again this year.
By taking part, she has raised £560 for the Costa Foundation to build schools in Ethiopia.
Costa Coffee has challenged each of their cafes to raise a minimum of £250 during July and as manager of the Monmouth coffee shop and a fan of Countdown, Vicky decided to ask customers and friends to sponsor her on the show, which was recorded in May.
Whitbread, who own Costa Coffee, have promised to match pound for pound the money raised, Vicki has so far raised £280.
Anyone who would still like to sponsor Vicky can do so by calling in at the Monmouth cafe before the end of the month.
