AFTER numerous exhibitions and commercial success in Australia, self-taught 26 year old Welshman Adam Humphreys has come home to announce his first solo exhibition in the UK from 4th to 10th May 2014.

Held in the romantic ruins of Usk Castle, his family home for over a century, Mr Humphreys will present his gorgeous bespoke sculptures which he handcrafts by chainsaw only.

His works of art have attracted many significant commissions, including work for The National Trust.

The exhibition will open daily to the public from 9.am to 5pm, with a chance to watch a live carving demonstration in the castle from the sculptor himself, every day from 4pm to 5pm.

With two solo exhibitions in Australia under his belt, as well as the prestigious 'Artisans in the Garden' as one of 25 prominent selected artists to show in Sydney's Botanic Gardens, the young artist has a wealth of experience behind him and is eager to show his craft in his home country.

"I am really excited and proud to be exhibiting amongst the history and atmosphere of the castle ruins," Adam said.

"I have been experimenting with a few different mediums, using metal and wood to create chainsaw sculpture with a twist."

Drawing his inspiration from natural forms and the country side aesthetic, his works contain movement, dynamism and expression, from soaring eagles and bounding hounds to abstract and organic pieces that focus on the wood's natural grain.

The exhibition is supported by JM Finn & Co, one of the UK's leading investment managers.

Head of the Cardiff office, Harry Lewis, said: "We hope, in a small way, we can assist the important and ongoing conservation project at the Castle as well as featuring the work of a talented and exciting young Welsh artist."

Mr Humphreys said he hopes that the exposure of his exhibition will also bring awareness to the castle's conservation project, run by the Humphreys family.
