APPROXIMATELY 100 U3A members gathered on Haberdashers’ Monmouth School playing fields to watch the partial Solar Eclipse on August 12.

Solar Eclipse glasses were purchased in advance, and they had the privilege to witness the eclipse with the addition of six telescopes, fitted with filters to watch the rare occasion up close.

Although clouds became a slight issue at times most of the eclipse was seen and at its maximum, 93 per cent of the sun was covered.
