A TWENTY four-year-old Wyesham man has taken on a tough challenge to raise money for a well-known cancer charity.

Tyron Thomas decided to “Brave the Shave” and has raised more than £300 so far by having his head shaved for Macmillan Cancer, the charity which is a source of support for those diagnosed with cancer.

Donna Sayce Allan, proprietor of the barber shop in Church Street said Tyron was very attached to his hair: “He is in here every couple of weeks having his hair tidied up” she added.

Most of Church Street are sponsoring him thanks to the support from the Chop Shop who have helped him towards his fundraising total.

Even as he was sat in the seat at The Chop Shop, generous customers were wanting to donate to add to the total raised.

Although willing to have his head shaved, he decided to keep his beard.

Tyron has also been supported by his work colleagues at The Priory Care Home in Llandogo where he works as a carer; his boss donated £50 although Tyron is “most definitely” expecting some ribbing from his co-workers when he goes back to work on Monday.

When asked if he intended to keep his new look, he said that his eight-week-old son Jacob was being christened next month so he would probably grow it back for then.
