Two bikers are in hospital following a crash on Staunton Road in Monmouth last Sunday (24th March).

The collision happened at about 1.30pm and involved two motorcycles – a Triumph Bonneville and a KTM Supermoto.

The road was closed to traffic for much of the afternoon and two air ambulances and a police helicopter were in attendance.

The Triumph rider, a 57-year-old man from Nantyglo,

sustained serious injuries

and was taken to Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, where he is in a critical but stable condition.

The KTM rider, a 39-year-old man from the Gloucestershire area, was taken to hospital with leg injuries.

Gwent Police are investigating the cause of the collision and are asking anyone who was in the area and who may have witnessed it to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 01633 642404.
