MONMOUTH Literary Festival is back in June 2016, and will feature a range of authors, musicians and entertainers at venues across Monmouth.
The festival is organised by pupils from Monmouth School, Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls, and Monmouth Comprehensive, and includes public and school-based events.
Public events include a performance by War Horse author Michael Morpurgo, who has volunteered to attend the festival at The Savoy on 21st June.
The Savoy will also host the Shore to Shore event on 22nd June, which is a mixture of poetry from Carol Ann Duffy, Jackie Kay, Gillian Clarke and Imtiaz Dharker, and a local guest poet, with music from John Sampson.
On Thursday 23rd June, the festival’s theme of ‘Enduring Voices’ is explored as senior members of the Monmouth community are invited to speak about a shared love of storytelling, poetry and literature, to inspire the next generation of literary figures.
Keep an eye on the Beacon for more on this, and Literary Festival competitions, in the coming weeks.
A programme of performances and talks have been arranged for pupils and students across all three schools, including a workshop by Horrible History series illustrator Tony De Saulles, and a workshop by performance poet Steve Camdem.
