Garway fete on Saturday (23rd August) hosted the second 'Jack's Dash' race named after the local legend of Jack O' Kent. The race is a 10km mixed terrain hill run, from Garway common, up to the summit of Garway Hill and back again – a climb of 1,200ft. First over the line was last year's winner and Monross Trailblazer Andrew Stephens in a time of 45 minutes 45 sec. Second was Penderyn runner Paul Cullen in 46:14 and in third place was Wye Valley runner Jeremy Jehan in 46:48. First woman over the line was Jodie Hall in 56:42 and second woman was Victoria Watkins whose time was 58:36. All money raised will go to the County Air Ambulance. Entertainment continued all afternoon with a dog show and a produce and flower show while children had the chance to practice their juggling and hula hoop skills. Other stalls included a hedgehog rescue stall from Peterstow, the Garway Heritage information tent and the Oldfield Forge were showing their range of styles in ironwork.
