SIR, It is not unusual to find traffic jams in Monnow Street and Agincourt Square these days but Friday 29th August beat all records when the town was gridlocked from end to end. It took an hour to drive from the new Monnow Bridge to Agincourt Square. An incident on the dual carriageway, workmen's traffic lights erected on the narrowest part of Monnow Street and a huge delivery lorry parked outside Marks and Spencers caused chaos. Where were the police? And are the town planners taking note? (Name and address supplied)
