WITH only five days to go before the Literary Festival comes to Monmouth, the festival committee is looking forward to welcoming a host of performers to the town.

Authors, poets, musicians and The Suitcase Theatre Company will all be appearing at events in venues including The Blake Theatre, The Savoy Theatre and Monmouth's Shire Hall.

The week starts at The Blake Theatre on Monday 22nd June at 6pm with the highly acclaimed authors, "The 2 Steves", who write for young people and specialise in comedy and adventure.

As part of the festival, they will be performing iHero, an interactive literary game show, based on their iHero books. The performance will be suitable for families with children aged seven and over.

Tuesday 23rd June sees "An Evening with Eddie Butler" at The Blake, with the Welsh Rugby legend talking about his novel "The Head of Gonzo Davies".

"The Shakespeare Revue" by The Suitcase Theatre Company will take place at The Savoy Theatre on the same day.

Mesmerising words and atmospheric music will combine in a collaboration between poet laureate Carol Ann Duffy and musician John Sampson at the Savoy Theatre on Wednesday evening, 24th June.

Thursday afternoon (25th June) will give people the opportunity to talk to authors Julia Gregson, Abbie Ross and Christopher Walking at the Shire Hall (1-3pm)

The week rounds off with an Evening with Owen Sheers.  Fresh from the Hay Festival, Owen's latest novel "I Saw a Man" is currently the Radio 4 Book at Bedtime.

Tickets cost £5 each (£2 for under-18s) and are available from Monmouth Comprehensive School, HMSG, Monmouth School, Rossiter Bookshop and Monmouth Library.

Tickets are available exclusively from The Savoy Theatre – 01600 772467 – for The Suitcase Theatre Company and Carol Ann Duffy's performances.
