The annual Seed Swap, organised by Action on Climate Emergency (ACE) Monmouth, returns on Saturday 28th February, 10am–1pm at the Methodist Hall — offering local people the chance to share, discover and take home seeds for the growing season ahead.
It’s a great way to root your 2026 garden ambitions in reality as there are unusual seeds to buy from Heritage Seed Library, knowledgeable gardeners on hand to offer advice and ideas, quality refurbished tools for sale, delicious refreshments served, and of course – lots of seeds and plants up for grabs!
The event brings together a wide range of vegetable, flower and heritage varieties, many of them saved locally. Some are familiar favourites; others are less common and rarely found in garden centres.
Visitors are welcome whether they have seeds to swap or not. The event is designed to be accessible and informal — open to experienced growers, first-time gardeners, families and anyone with a windowsill, balcony or patch of soil who wants to try growing something.
Seed swapping is a simple way to keep useful varieties in circulation, reduce waste and make growing more affordable. By saving and sharing seeds locally, communities help maintain biodiversity and encourage more people to get involved in growing food and flowers in a truly sustainable and self-sufficient way.
Entry is free, with donations welcome in support of the Heritage Seed Library.
