MONMOUTH has a new mayor and deputy, and will soon have a new town clerk.

At Monmouth Town Council's AGM on Monday (10th May), the vote was unanimous in electing deputy mayor Jeana Hall to the post of mayor.

Councillor Gerry Bright was named deputy mayor and it was announced that Sue James will take over as town clerk in about a month's time.

Before handing over to Cllr Hall, outgoing mayor Ann Were said: "I would like to thank my fellow councillors for allowing me the opportunity to serve the town and town council as its mayor.

"It has been an enjoyable year and I feel incredibly privileged to have been able to have this experience.
