OSBASTON Infants school has been rated one of the best school's of its kind in Monmouthshire by independent Inspectors.

Following an intensive two-day inspection last November in which every aspect of school life was put under the microscope, the Inspectors verdict was that "Osbaston Infants is a very successful school, which provides a quality education and achieves high standards in a secure, caring, learning environment."

The Inspectors apply a very strict yardstick in measuring a school's performance and the highest rating they can give any activity in the school is "very good". At Osbaston Infants, they found that the school's standards in Early Years, English, Maths, Science and Art all hit the top level, as did provision for Special Educational Needs. The Inspectors found the pupils' attitudes and behaviour to be "very good" also.

The Inspectors praised the commitment and professionalism of the staff, with 90% of the teaching in the school considered to be "good" or better. 31% of it was judged to be "very good". Other aspects of the school's life were also recognised. For example, the participation of parents in activities in school and the fund-raising efforts of the PTA.

Such positive reports are hard-earned and not given out lightly, so it is no surprise that everyone involved with the school is delighted. The Inspection is independent confirmation that Osbaston Infants school is among the best and still trying to be better.
