ALAN and John Powell of Monnow Marquees and Washrite Domestic Appliances were delighted by their success in winning the Perpetual Challenge Cup for the best trade stand in their category at last week's Show. The win was made all the more important to them as this year's Show was even more special in its own right. "To win this cup in the 150th year of the Monmouthshire Show and the first year at the new showground has made it even more important to us," said Vicky Powell. "We will always be able to say that we won the Cup on a very special day indeed. "As a family team we have all worked extremely hard to achieve this and have been rewarded accordingly. "We must also thank the following people for their efforts on the day who helped towards the winning stand: Charles and Becky Wall (A Plush Flush Toilet Hire), Lois Norman (Bishopswood House), Kay and Ron (Deacons Florist and Wow Factor Balloons), Special Occasion Linen (Linen and Napkin Hire). "We would also like to thank customers from both Monnow Marquees and Washrite who joined us on the day to share our hospitality and to view our marquee in all its glory. With our position on the main ring and our marquee elevated, all who joined us had an excellent vantage point from which to enjoy the events taking place in the main ring." "All we have to do now is win again next year!" said Alan and John, with a smile.
