SIR,
I would like to clarify some information regarding the ambulance provision in Monmouth.
In a letter last week, some residents argued that Monmouth deserves two ambulances not one. In fact, there is no dedicated ambulance in Monmouth, however, there is a ring fenced rapid response vehicle.
There is a campaign at the moment called 'Together we can improve the ambulance service' which I have been leading which aims to address this problem.
A petition calling for a dedicated ambulance for Monmouth has been delivered to the Health and Social Care Committee at the Welsh Assembly, and is being considered.
Moreover, as this letter goes to press I am meeting with the Community Health Council in order to raise concerns of local people and explain the efforts in finding a resolution.
I will report to the town council at the public meeting next Monday (27th February 7pm) and present further developments on the matter.
