CHILDREN’S hospital charity, Noah’s Ark, held a Zip Wire challenge on 1st July to help reach its aim of raising £1 million for the Tiny Lives Appeal.

The fundraising event took place at Chepstow NDAC Quarry, home to one of the UK’s longest zip wires, launching from 70m high and reaching speeds of 40mph. With glorious sunshine and 92 participants the day was a huge success and is expected to raise more than £10,000 for the Tiny Lives Appeal.

Funds raised through the appeal are being spent on specialist life-saving equipment like ventilators which support premature and critically ill babies to breathe. It also helps parents facing weeks and months of huge worry and uncertainty by funding items like a video monitor which allows a mum recovering from birth to see her baby in the anxious hours before they are re-united.

Head of events at the Noah’s Ark Charity, Linda Davies, says: “This was our first time running the Zip Wire event in Chepstow so we’re so pleased that we had so many supporters take part who all helped make the day a huge success.

“Together we have raised an incredible amount for the Noah’s Ark Charity Tiny Lives Appeal, playing a part in ensuring the best treatment and outcome possible for premature and critically ill babies across South, Mid and West Wales. We’re already looking forward to next year!”
