A FUN run to raise awareness for Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) will be held next month.

The public are invited to sign up and run the 5k (three lap) course at Tintern Old Station. There will also be a one lap course for children.

The event marks the start of a 13 day campaign to raise awareness of TSS.

The campaign has been set up by the family of Caerwent teenager Natasha Scott-Falber who passed away in February 2013 after using a tampon for the first time. Despite following all the guidelines for tampon use, her condition was mistaken for the norovirus. She was 14-years-old.

The awareness campaign will feature flash mobs, synchronised dances, an art exhibition and coffee mornings.

Natasha's mum, Mandy Scott, who has been training hard for the fun run, said: "As a family we are so looking forward to the fun run on 14th February as it is the start of our 13 day awareness campaign.

"We hope that many more will join us for the run and raise awareness of TSS in the hope that no one else will die of this very rare but deadly syndrome."

To sign up for the fun run, which will be held on Saturday 14th February, visit tssaware.org.uk.

It costs £5 for adults, under 15s go free.
