THE annual Kymin Dash, organised by Spirit Of Monmouth Running Club, raised £1,000 this year for the Action Duchenne Charity.
A cheque was presented to Ellis Barratt, who was representing the charity, by race director Emma King for £2,000. Emma's employers at Barclays Bank were kind enough to match the funds raised on the day.
Since taking over organisation of the Kymin Dash in 2013, the race has raised more than £2,250 for different charities and, with the support of Barclays, organisers have made donations totalling £4,500 and hope to continue donating to worthy causes each year.
The charity was chosen as one of the clubs members has a teenage son, Ellis, who is affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The charity was founded in 2001 to fund research to find a cure or viable treatments as well as support sufferers and their families.
Next year the club will be supporting St Michael's Hospice. If you would like to know about the event, or become a sponsor of the Kymin Dash, contact Emma at [email protected]">[email protected].
The race will take place on Sunday 17th April 2016, for more information visit their website (http://www.kymindash.co.uk">www.kymindash.co.uk) or Facebook page for further information.
