SIR,

Why are we giving Dixton roundabout and Raglan Services sites over to the multi-nationals of McDonald's, Burger King, Starbucks and others?

Why not keep the jobs created and profits local?

Importantly, let us display and sell local produce and products, marketed by local people.

The sites could be a superb shop window for Monmouthshire goods; the Raglan services being close to new livestock market.

There are some excellent successes of regional 'pit stops' around the country at Ludlow (A49) – The Ludlow Food Centre – and at Perth (A9) – The Perthshire Visitor Centre – which contribute much to the local community.

This is an opportunity to think big but think local and be exciting
