A small pub in the heart of the stunning Monmouthshire countryside has just been named one of the best local restaurants in the whole of the UK.

The Good Food Guide recently published its list of the 100 best local restaurants from across the country, and sitting there proudly at number 5 is The Black Bear Inn, just outside Usk. It has also taken home the title of being the Best in Wales!

As one of the many feathers in the rural pub’s cap, having been named one of the best gastropubs in the country earlier this year for the fifth time running, the owners continue to win plaudits for the dynamic changes they brought to the traditional pub when they bought in seven years ago.

However, even though Josh and Hannah Byrne said they were in no rush to leave when the business went on the market over a year ago, the fact they still continue to win awards is testament to their commitment to serving the community and providing the best experience possible for their regulars.

The business remains on the market for less than half a million pounds. Coming in just under that benchmark at £495,000, any prospective owner would have huge shoes to fill by taking on a multi-award winning business in a Welsh county renowned for its local cuisine and produce.

The family-run pub, which has also been listed in the Michelin guide, also boasts living accommodation with three bedrooms and a stunning location in the village of Bettws Newydd.
