His latest book
(Peter Ellis)

The Mage Returns is the sixth fantasy novel by Monmouth author, Peter Ellis, to be published by Elsewhen Press. The further adventures of a Gnome and his diverse companions follows on from Peter’s previous novel, An Extraordinary Tale. The characters embark on an exciting quest through different worlds culminating in a race to stop their own world from decaying and fading away.

Peter says, “I write fantastical and magical stories which also make readers think. Problems are not solved by violence or power but by cooperation and cunning, with humour.”

The Mage Returns is somewhat slimmer than the previous novel though a similar length. It has been formatted and printed in a font that is more eco-aware and economical in its use of paper and ink.

Peter Ellis was born and grew up in Cardiff. His studies and subsequent career as a science teacher and educational writer took him to various parts of southern England. Seven years ago, he and Alison retired to Monmouth. Peter is a proud Cymro and delighted to be back living in Cymru. Peter is non-binary and also known as Penny.

The Mage Returns will be launched at the Griffin Bar in Whitecross St., Monmouth at 11am on Saturday 27th September with a short talk, brief readings, and cake. All are welcome. Copies of The Mage Returns and Peter’s other fantasy novels can be obtained from Elsewhen.press or from Peter.

As Philobrach Hohenheim and his companions relax after their adventures recounted in An Extraordinary Tale, they receive an urgent message. The Sorceress Carmine, The Red Mage, has returned to their world. What mischief does she plan this time?

Soon, the Gnome, Bones the skeleton, Hugo the Ogre and a brave mouse called Mortimer, find themselves on a quest that takes them across both land and ocean, into the moon, and through it to another universe.
