SIR,

I agree with the letter in the Beacon stating Monmouth is a special place. Yes it is and most of the shop assistants are very friendly and helpful but, sadly, there is always an exception to the rule.

One particular shop, I had better not name it, is in need of an overhaul in the context of the welcome it extends to customers.

The lady proprietor displays an enormously superior attitude. I visited the shop four years ago and vowed not to return; however recently I gave it another go and nothing has changed.

I was treated as though I was not good enough to be there.

This is a great shame because she could be providing a valuable service but obviously feels that the majority of local residents are not good enough. If she recognises herself perhaps things will change.
