EIGHT stunning spherical images have captured historic Welsh sites in a way as unique as the ancient structures themselves.

The images have been a result of a project called Relics, launched by Cadw, the Welsh Government's historic environment service.

The project has seen Cardiff-based 360 degree photographer Matt Wright travel Wales using high definition imagery to create one-of a kind sculptures he calls 'photospheres'.

The sculptures have been inspired by sites that span the ages, from the ruins of Tintern Abbey to Snowdonia's medieval castle, Castell y Bere, and the Neolithic burial chamber Pentre Ifan.

The sculptures, and the story of how they were created, will form an exhibition supported by the Arts Council of Wales and Welsh Government, to be launched at the Wales Millennium Centre in June this year.
