SIR, On behalf of the Monmouth Royal British Legion I would like to thank everyone who contributed during the week of the National Poppy Appeal. The efforts of all our street collecting volunteers, donations from all our churches and all the shops and businesses who had poppy boxes on their premises has resulted in a magnificent total so far of £16,580.52. Thank you all very much. A special thank you also goes to the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (Militia) who loaned and erected a gazebo to shelter fundraisers by the Shire Hall.
