A long running dispute, which threatened the works on the ancient Shire Hall at Monmouth, has been resolved, The Beacon can reveal.

Following protracted negotiations at Cardiff County Court on Thursday of last week, a settlement has been reached between the residents of Beaufort Arms Court and the County Council.

The tenants will now face no longer than a year of scaffolding in the courtyard behind the Shire Hall (Which is the assurance they sought from the outset) and the council have agreed to pay compensation for the duration of the works.
