A teenager was airlifted to hospital at the weekend after coming off his push bike near Monmouth.

With the Welsh Air Ambulance deployed on another job, the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) responded to the call last Saturday (25th June).

The WNAA crew arrived on the scene just after 6pm and found a teenage male who was unconscious and suffering from a serious head injury.

The 17-year-old was biking when he came off on a steep hillside.

The crew landed close to the patient and quickly assessed him. They then anaesthetised him before airlifting him to Bristol Frenchay Hospital for further tests and care.

"The patient needed urgent medical attention and a fast transfer to hospital," said a spokeswoman.
