POLICE are appealing for residents in the Caerwent area to be extra vigilant after a suspicious incident last Thursday (17th April). A 17-year-old girl and a five year old boy were walking their dogs along Roman Road, Caerwent just before 6pm when they say they were approached by an elderly lady who came out of the nearby public toilet and asked if they wanted to get into a nearby parked white van. There was a man in the vehicle which is described as having dark windows to the rear and drivers side. The children describe the man as scruffy. The elderly lady is described as wearing a long purple coat with big buttons and a purple hat and smart shoes. The 17-year-old and five-year-old were unharmed and made their way home.
