Well the sun dideventually come out for the walkers in this year's SunWalk in Bristol. A group of intrepid ladies from Llanishen, Raglan and Trellech Grange, Jayne Owen, Angela Paley, Ginna Gow-Smith, Hilary Pugh-Jones, Diana Senior and Mary Musselbrook, drove across the Severn Bridge in the pouring rain on Sunday morning, to undertake the Bristol Half-Marathon. The atmosphere at Ashton Court Park was buoyant, helped by a good DJ and a very enthusiastic fitness instructor demonstrating the warm-up exercises. It was a colourful sight as thousands of women, children and men undertaking the walk were sporting decorated bras and tee-shirts as a fun and often poignant reminder of why we were all there – to raise funds for those dealing with breast cancer. The rain stopped and the skies cleared as the first walkers headed up through the beautiful parkland and began the 13 mile walk that took them along the waterfront, around the Clifton Downs, across the spectacular Clifton Suspension Bridge and several hours a few heavy showers and lots of laughter later, back to Ashton Court Park. What a great way to raise money for a cause that touches so many lives – a bit of exercise in a beautiful city with good mates!
