LLANGATTOCK Ploughing and Agricultural Society held their annual Charity Tractor Road Run on July 12th, with 85 tractors starting off from Parc Grace Dieu, The Hendre, by kind permission of the Society's President, Mr Frank Sutton and family. The 22 mile route passed through Court Farm, Wonastow, and Dial's Farm - many thanks to Mr and Mrs King and the Hart family for allowing the tractors to pass over their land. The route then continued through Mitchel Troy and then up to Trellech, which took in breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery, including the stop for lunch at Croes Robert, Trellech - many thanks to Mr and Mrs Peter Lewis and John Brown. The Gordon Sutton Memorial Plaque for the best tractor on the road run was judged by Society members Colin Humphries and Davy Phillips and was won by Ray Vaughan of Cross Ash who was driving a 1958 Massey Ferguson 35. The best John Deere on the road run was a 5020 driven by David Hiscock from Dorset and was judged by Neil Rollings. The day was rounded off with a Barn Dance at Parc Grace Dieu and the Society would like to thank all the people who helped with this and Road Run. The Society's next event is the Annual Ploughing Match on Sunday, September 21st, at Rockfield Farm, Rockfield, by invitation of G R Morgan and Partners.
