The Curre and Llangibby Hunts have enjoyed a busy Christmas period, with high numbers at both the Christmas Eve and Boxing Day Meets.
Held at the Huntsman Hotel at Shirenewton, the Christmas Eve Meet saw a huge turnout, with about 70 to 80 people on horseback, and many more on foot. The car park hosting the event was full to the brim as Hunt followers attended the seasonal celebrations.
Joint Master Norman Matthews spoke of his happiness.
"It has been like this right the way through the season, and it is a pleasure to see," he said.
"We have had more subscriptions [this season] than ever before."
Making the most of the time of year and the festivities, many Hunt members attended the meet decked in tinsel and other Christmas decorations.
Hunts Master Simon Young described what the future holds for this local pack.
"We're only going to see greater and greater numbers," he said, describing the local people as "very supportive".
The Masters also took time before departing for the day to thank their local farmers, who they described as "more than brilliant" for their help and co-operation throughout the season.
As well as great attendance from local supporters, the seasonal Meets also attracted a high number of visitors from other packs. Tim Sleath, visiting from the Berkeley, described the Curre and Llangibby as "the most sociable and welcoming Hunt you could hope for".
Despite uninspiring weather, the Hunt were just pleased that the absence of snow and icy ground enabled them to attend both meets mounted on horses, unlike last year where all supporters were forced to attend on foot.
Also bringing in the crowds was the Boxing Day meet, held on Devauden Green. With the ground still heavy with rain, there may be little left of the Green's turf, but good fun was had by all as a crowd gathered again to watch the Hunt leave.
Attracted to this meet was Assembly Member Nick Ramsey, who spoke in a stirring speech of his support to Monmouthshire's Hunts.
