TEENAGERS James Woodman and Roxy Lewis have set off on an epic 10,000-mile drive.

James, from Monmouth, and Roxy, a fellow geology student at the University of Birmingham, are one of 600 teams from around Europe taking part in the Mongol Rally.

The rally challenges teams to drive to Mongolia in a car with nothing bigger than a one litre engine.

"It's getting more exciting day by day," said James before the rally.

"Over the past few weeks we've had many injections, waited many painful hours for visas and done a few modifications to the car.

"We've fitted a sump guard, a new radiator and clutch and we're both learning a lot more about the car, which will hopefully prove useful on the trip, but our little Perodua, which has now been named Ken, is still certainly no 4x4.

"We've now raised more than £2,000 for the Mercy Corps and Christina Noble's Children Foundation."
