Staff across the county's four schools; Caldicot School, Chepstow School, King Henry VIII and Monmouth Comprehensive, welcomed students and their families as they discovered the outcome of the hard work and dedication they’ve shown.

Monmouthshire County Council's cabinet member for education, Councillor Martyn Groucutt, said: "Collecting results can often be a time of both excitement and great nervousness. In following your GCSE and Level 2 courses, you have shown commitment to your studies. Before any envelope is opened, you should remember this; enjoy everything the day brings, if you need to, talk to your teachers about the right next steps for you. Take the time to thank those who have supported you on your journey: your families, carers and all the members of the school team. Congratulations to all our learners."

The council's chief officer for children and young people, Will McLean, added: "Everyone receiving results today should be proud of what they have achieved. Thank you to all the families, carers and schools staff who have assisted the learners in their journey."
