More than 100 entries have already been received for the 2011 Team GMF Wyedean Forest Rally, although there is still two weeks to go before entries close.

A top entry has already been received from Paul Bird Focus 08 WRC. The Penrith-based superbike team owner is doing the opening two rounds of the BTRDA series.

Hugh Hunter always goes well on the Wyedean, although the 2007 winner did mainly asphalt events last year but the 2001 spec Focus has been fettled over the winter months.

Team mate Michael O'Brien has entered his 03 spec Focus WRC, Roger Duckworth is returning to the scene of his 1994 victory in his Impreza WRC, Charlie Payne in a 08 Focus WRC with Craig Thorley on the notes.

Craig's grandson Tom Hughes will also be doing the event, navigating for Ashley Slights. The Rally First champions will use last year's winning Toyota Yaris as their new car won't be ready.

Tom made his rallying debut alongside Keith Stones in the Escort RS that Craig made his Wyedean debut alongside Keith in 1984.

Group N front runners Tristan Bailey, Wug Utting, Paul Davy and the find of last year James Grint are all there.

Early historic entries include Nick Elliott, who will be very hard to beat in his RS1800, Peter Elkins, Simon Crook and Simon Tysoe in similar cars.

Stuart Clarke in his Pinto-engined CC Groundworks-backed Escort will give them a fight all the way.

Locals include Paul Gunter in the BG Landrovers Escort RS, Tim Phelps in an Escort RS and Ronnie Taylor in his Mk1 Escort. Ron was on the 1977 Wyedean entry list.

Graham Waite will swap the giant-killing Volvo Amazon for his new Opel Ascona.

In the 1400 category, Darren Pinchen, Kieran Darrington and Roger Priestnall are among the early entries.

But there are a lot of top flight entries in all categories still to come in plus a host of local entries, so it looks like the event is going to get a real quality entry, perhaps one of the best in its history.
