Michaela Strachan says filming in the Wye Valley has reminded her of the area's rich history.
The TV presenter spent last week filming the new series of Great British Ghosts for Sky channel Yesterday alongside Forest of Dean-based paranormal investigators FPI.
Two episodes to be shown in the autumn will feature St Briavels Castle, Clearwell Caves, the Angel Hotel in Coleford and the New Inn at Pwllmeyric.
The show is directed by Bruce Burgess, best known for documentaries such as Bloodline and Dreamland, who says it is about "ghost stories, not ghost hunting".
The locations were chosen by FPI, who wrote to the show's producers after watching the first series.
"We wanted to see if they would be interested in coming to the Forest and they got back to us the next day," said FPI's Paula Meek.
The show's presenter admits to "sitting on the fence" when it comes to a belief in the paranormal.
"It's because I've never had a stand-out experience myself, but I went on an investigation with FPI last week and it was good fun whether you believe in it or not," said Michaela.
"I was asked to do the show and thought 'that sounds interesting'. It's been really good fun and I'm glad I did.
"I don't normally get to meet people in the paranormal world and I've learnt so much in the last week.
"The remit is to look at the history of haunted places and it has allowed us to visit so many interesting places. It just helps to remind you how much history is around us – there is so much in this area.
"What is great about this team (FPI) is that they record everything and question it."
FPI does not use mediums, instead relying on technology including motion detectors and electro-magnetic devices.
The group is made up of team leader Adam Heath, his partner Paula, Vicki Thornton and Tim Gunter.
"We started the group back in November 2010 and have carried out more than 70 investigations," said Paula.
"The Angel Hotel was our first and has become a bit of a base for us, but we will respond to people calling us with their experiences – we are like the emergency service for anything paranormal."
So, what stories did the Wye Valley turn up for Great British Ghosts?
"Many people have got lost in the myriad of tunnels in Clearwell Caves," added Paula, "and have been guided back to the surface by someone who disappears as soon as they get there.
"In the New Inn, a mother and daughter were hanged in the 1730s. We have had communication with the mother, who appears in just one room, while the daughter is like a poltergeist – moving things around."
Paula describes St Briavels Castle as "probably the most haunted building in the area".
From poltergeists throwing cushions and moving furniture to a coach and horses seen coming through the archway into the castle, every room seems to be haunted.
As for what Michaela saw in the old kitchen, she isn't letting on and we will have to watch the show to find out.
