SPECSAVERS in Monmouth have taken a leaf from the book of Specsavers UK who sponsored the British Olympic Rowing Team for the Sydney Olympics by providing Oakley sunglasses for the 25 strong HMSG 1st squad who are about to embark on a week long training camp on the 1992 Spanish Olympic Rowing Course at Banyoles.
HMSG coach Kate Callaghan, picked up the fact that the Olympic rowers were sporting Oakleys and saw the significance of their importance in coping with the angle of the sun at Banyoles.
She approached the Monmouth branch of Specsavers who were keen to oblige the girls from one of the top rowing schools in Britain. The value of the package is £2,000.
