Reigning REIS National Asphalt Champions Damian Cole and Craig Drew got their 2011 campaign off to a solid start with a fine second overall on last Sunday's (13th March) Tour of Epynt in the Get-Connected.com Ford Focus WRC.
Port Talbot Motor Club had attracted a quality entry to its Brecon base, with the likes of Peter Lloyd in the Subaru S14 WRC, John Stone in the Skoda Fabia WRC taking part.
There was also Graham Coffey in the Subaru S12 WRC, Steve Simpson in the S12 WRC, Dave Pattison's Lancer Evo6, Seb Ling's Lancer Evo9 and a host of quick 2wd drive cars including John Indri's Darrian GTR, Simon Mauger's Escort RS, Ray Horton's Darrian GTR and Jay Stanley in the Escort RS.
Seven stages offered 85 miles on the notorious Epynt Ranges.
Steve Simpson was quickest out of the box with Cole hot on his heels on the opening test.
