SKENFRITH bounced back after the disappointment of their cup defeat with a special performance against K's from Hereford. It was Skenfrith's third away game to a Hereford side this season and the third time they have scored six goals against their rivals, running out 2-6 victors.
Skenfrith started slowly and were punished within five minutes as Skenfrith conceded a free kick on the edge of the area. The Wall was slow to form and K's took advantage. Within 10 minutes Skenfrith were level when the ball fell to Byron who beat the advancing keeper. But again Skenfrith were caught napping - a cross in from the right found their striker who scored with a superb header. In the 26th minute Skenfrith equalised through "man of the match" Byron; Warman's corner found Byron at the near post and his half volley found the net. Then, in the 35th minute, Skenfrith took the lead with a good through ball to Diamond who rounded the keeper only to be brought down by him. Bontej stepped up to put the penalty away.
The second half saw Skenfrith totally dominate the game with some outstanding football which Ks could not control.
Skenfrith had another penalty only this time the keeper saved it. Stevens came on for Warman and Brown for Bontej. Stevens, normally reserve keeper, scored Skenfrith's final goal with a superb left foot curler into the top corner, capping a good team performance against an awkward and physical team.
Skenfrith are at home to Tupsley on Saturday, kick-off 2.30pm.
