MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay was delighted to hear that fallen trees blocking Skenfrith Bridge over the River Monnow have been cleared after pleas were made to Natural Resources Wales for swift action.
Nick was contacted by residents of Skenfrith more than a week ago after the bridge was blocked by large fallen trees. Residents feared that with more heavy rain or snow the village could be flooded if urgent action was not taken.
Speaking on Monday 26th January he said: "After contacting Natural Resources Wales twice last week and also writing to the Welsh Government Minister responsible for Natural Resources I was very pleased that urgent action has been taken.
"Last year I understand the residents of Skenfrith waited months before trees were removed from the bridge.
"They are all relieved that they can relax once again as any imminent threat of flooding in the village has been removed."
